– is an ambiguous notion. So two directions, antagonistic methodologically, are designates by this term.
   Methods of one of the direction suppress undesirable emotion, in particular it can be an obsession suppressed. Here the psychotherapy learns a patient how he can adapt himself to the obsession. Just to this direction the whole methodical block concerns, which has grown from Freudian psychoanalysis. This direction is more effective than narcology (efficiency about 60% against 5%), however not everyone can be learned so.
   And in those rare cases when it liquidates an obsession (that the y-technique makes always), it takes in 2÷3 orders (in hundreds times) more patient's (as well as specialist's) than by means (at using) of y-technics.
   The other group forms an emotion (emotions), competitive and stronger than undesirable. Just to this direction so-called codings concerns. But competitive emotion (mainly – fear to use a drug) can become a new obsession. A patient becomes then already the carrier of two dependences, each of which is fraught with troubles and even dangers.
