3. CONCEPTUAL BASE
3.2. IMAGE and THOUGHT

    Metaphysicum is not homogeneous. It consists of two (minimum two) realities.
    The first of them (considered/analyzed in the conclusion/point 3.1), which is
•  revealed already in distant perception of outer (in respect of the psyche) world, in procedures of passive attitude to it (if not from psychology's point of view, so at least from physics' one),
•  in particular, the matter/substance/"barier" of psychical image D of an object T (of image not only of perception, but any one – of notion, of imagination), –
we'll name, accordingly with traditions, as astral reality or astralum (A).
    The second of them is revealed in procedures of active influence – any one, not only distant one – upon the outer world. Action is based upon the previous comparison of several objects (situations), and choice of a desirable one among them (the optimal one, normally). But in fact the source material for the comparison is not the outer/physical objects T but their images D, i.e. in fact inner, psychic, astral objects D are compared.
    More than that, an operator compares not the images D themselves. It's impossible (difficult, unpractical) to compare images as a whole. They are compared by some parameter (or by several ones), by some quality, important in any concrete case (in another situation another parameter or their complex may be important). A process of accentuation of some parameter of an image (of an image D in fact, and of an object T itself from the practical point of view) and abstracting (may be temporarily) from all others is just the process of reflection R of an image D (which is itself a result of the reflection R of an object T), is a process of second order reflection R2. The result of the process is a thought of the object T.
    The abstractiveness (more or less but indispensable one) of thought makes it qualitatively distinguishable from an image, which is always/in principle concrete. It is just that gives ground for analogy between reflections of the first order and of the second one, and permits to conclude that reflection of an image occurs not in limits of the same astral but that it (an image) is reflected into a qualitatively another "bearer", into another substance which is also metaphysical and, more than that, still more distinguishes from physical reality (P), from physicum, than astralum. We'll name it, accordingly tradition, as mental reality or mentalum (M).   è
