News are different. If a think, familiar since the childhood – convenient, obedient – start suddenly to be independent, if a doll stands up and goes, let even goes not to you, let even not goes but only stirs, – a rare person remains quiet, doesn't feel his hair "rise on end", doesn't feel full confusion because it is not clear what must he do, doesn't take fright whether he goes mad, etc. A usual people, if they hear about such things, regard them as an unsuccessful joke, as shameless lie, as delirium of the madman.
Both an immediate eye-witness of a distant phenomenon (DP), i.e. the phenomenon which has no physical cause, and the one who has learned about it by hearsay, both feel the sharp protest against, even against such a harmless DP as a case with the doll. And in fact, in practice a poltergeist has mainly painful, traumatic character (publications about poltergeists are given in the list of the literature by an separate block [ 99÷104 ]).
Meanwhile, many phenomena (not less dangerous and/or shocking) which the majority of people have not faced too – for example, a fireball, falling of a large meteorite, a full solar eclipse do not cause such categorical (sometimes panic) objection. It means, the point is not in rarity of DP. The reason is an authoritativeness of the science among the wide population. That, which the modern science (MS) considers to be explained or even explainable, does not shock, does not frighten. And if even frightens, so this fear is rational (it's not a panic) – it is clear, what must be done.
And if MS considers something to be not explicable, so MS considers it nonexistent. To study, to try to explain something nonexistent is obviously unreasonable because it is useless. So the vicious circle of MS world outlook limitation becomes shut/enclosed.
