The WORK GENERAL CHARACTERISTIC
The subject of this research is a phenomenon, named conditionally as a personal dependence, or as an obsession. These terms are understood as any state of an internal conflict, a contradiction between subject’s thoughts, his logic, common sense, and his emotions which can reveal itself in his actions, behaviour, at the physical level. A vivid example of such a conflict and of a discomfort, connected with it, can serve a decision to refrain from alcohol drinks (or from tobacco smoking), which is broken in the very next day. A person is not capable to check himself in this situations, specific for him. The problem of obsession is connected closely with a problem of volition and non-volition (will and lack of will, volitionlessness).
The problem’s urgency is high from any point of view: for both science and practice; psychology, medicine and economy; individual and society.
In particular, narcotic dependences are special cases of the obsession. Most of highly developed countries, including Russia, and the world community as the whole make significant sacrifices in struggle against narcobusiness. However while a mainstream of this struggle there will be a drugs’ manufacture, transportation and realization – the struggle’s successes can be only partial and/or temporal. Narcobusiness will prosper, if demand for drugs will retain.
The problem is still more actual as intrapersonal one: on a person's way to his life global purpose – to spiritual perfection, to harmonious development – the necessary condition of success (and sometimes, probably, the end in itself) is his internal, spiritual freedom.
Contemporary state of the problem.
In the scientific plan the essential problem of obsession – as the internal conflict – and of its mechanisms has not developed, as far as the author knows. The extensive bibliography on an adjacent problem – volition – also gives the convincing analysis of mechanisms neither realization of intention, nor occurrence, manifestations of non-volition.
In the plan of practice the problem’s state does not allow to admit it to be close to solution. Techniques and programs of refusal of drugs (more medical than psychological), in particular – from alcohol and tobacco, are poorly productive, though laborious are expensive. Formally, there are exceptions, but their actual value is doubtful. So, high productivity (up to 95%) of one of techniques is provided with rigid entrance selection of patients (clients): only persons, who are capable to abstain independently for a long time, are allowed to a formally single-moment procedure. Hence, by this technique a patient begins to work himself long before (14 days at alcoholism and 2 days at refusal of tobacco smoking) of the very medical procedure. Thus, the technique is not valid for the most dependent and the most requiring of help persons.
Moreover, techniques of this type are based on suggestion to a patient of fear before drug using and thus, instead of liberation him for one dependence, create the second one, competing with the first, and so even cases of formal success (of an actual abstention) cannot be admitted as real success, as liberation from obsession.
At the same time there is the power pseudoscientific and iatrogenic propagation approving the thesis about incurability of narcotisms, and in particular of alcoholism (for example, Anonymous Alcoholics make it over the whole world).
The research purpose is to uncover the obsession mechanisms, to develop techniques of person (of examinee, of client) liberation from obsession.
Hypothesis..
A personal dependence, obsession, is a result of a breach of the norm of mutual relations of psyche components, is an emotion (or emotions) escape from under the self-consciousness control.
Liquidation of personal dependence is possible by means of interpersonal psyche influence (IPI), i.e. by direct – without using of physical level elements – influences upon an examinee’s (client’s, IPI-recipient’s) psyche, from the outside of psychologist’s IPI-operator’s, IPI-inductor’s) psyche.
The research object is a phenomenon of nicotinic dependence – the typical and the most a persistent among the narcotic dependences, the most widespread, apparently, in the Russian population.
A contingent of examinees were volunteers with persistent nicotinic dependence, "chain smokers"; the author’s card file comprises more than 800 persons.
Research tasks
The main task is development and approbation of a technique for elimination of nicotinic dependence, a reduction of the abstinence syndrome. Its decision demands to decide several auxiliary tasks:
to reveal specific features of abstinent states,
both of subjective, internal traits of reaction to abstention from smoking,
including their classification and
their correlations with obstinacy of dependence;
and external, individually significant situational factors influencing upon the attitude to abstention
including their classification.
A method of researching is checking of a hypothesis by results (including the remote results) of the natural, and at the same time of the forming, experiment which is based upon this this hypothesis, namely – by results of practical work with clients who really require to be liberated from their nicotinic dependences.
Scientific novelty and theoretical value of the research are defined by the new conceptual approach to psyche as to two-level hierarchical system in which the informational level, including (self)consciousness, prevails in norm over the power level, including emotions, controls it. Upon this basis one accounts for mechanisms of volition and non-volition; one enters into scientific consideration such phenomena of the second (and higher) order as volition of the second order, memory of the second order and IPI (interpersonal psi-technique influence).
Practical value. Results of the research are used for liberating clients from a wide spectrum of obsessions, covering various phobias, consequences of stresses, disgust and an inclination, and they open also a basic possibility to decide the problem of narcotism as a social harm.
The statements, produce to be defended.
1. A client’s (or examinee’s) obsession can be eliminated by means of interpersonal psi-technique influences (IPI), in which only direct-psychical contacts of IPI-subject and IPI-object are used, and channels of the physical level are not used.
2. Liquidation of a client’s (or examinee’s, IPI-object-person’s) obsession is his volition strengthening, his volition function (re)building if one admit the person’s volition to be an ability to realize his intention. © ÀÑÌàðêîí ÏÑÈÕÈ×ÅÑÊÎÅ ÂÛÆÈÂÀÍÈÅ®2001
